9-Year-Old Lucy Milgrim Shatters Records Deadlifting 180 lbs!

A 9-year-old girl from New York has everyone online losing their minds after she absolutely crushed a deadlift. Little Lucy Milgrim hauled up 180 pounds at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, back on March 8, 2026. That’s way beyond her old American youth record of 165 pounds in the 43kg class she straight-up demolished it.

This all went down at the XPC Powerlifting meet, part of one of the biggest fitness blowouts on the planet. Everything was legit: judges watching every move, spotters ready to jump in, and all the official gear checked out for her raw lift.

The video clip, which is around 84 seconds long, shows Lucy putting on her Cardillo Weight Belts lifting belt, grabbing that bar like it’s no big deal, and yanking the 180-pound weight right up to a solid lockout. She pauses for a second at the top, and then puts it down nice and controlled. No wobbles, no grunts, just pure and smooth power, and the crowd goes wild.

She dropped the vid first on her Instagram, @lucy.milgrim, with a caption that said:

“New PR at The Arnold! With sincere appreciation to our amazing sponsor @cardilloweightbelts and gratitude to Lexen Xtreme Powerlifting for the invite.”

Then commentator Dom Lucre threw it up on X, captioning it:

“DEVELOPING: This 9 year old little girl named Lucy Milgrim dead lifted 180 lbs.”

Even ex-NFL guy Robert Griffin III reposted it, plus spots like WorldStarHipHop and a bunch of fitness pages. Views exploded into the millions everywhere.

Lucy is a fourth-grader at Saw Mill Elementary School in Bellmore, New York. She is no newbie in the lifting game. She has earned the USAPL Youth National Champion title for 2025 and the award for Best Female Overall Lifter. She has also broken American records in squat (131 pounds), bench (74 pounds), and deadlift (165 pounds) in 2025.

Her dad, Brett Milgrim, who’s been coaching wrestling since 2005, got her into this world around age 6. Mom Michelle runs the social media stuff. They’ve got a setup in their home gym where Lucy puts in over 10 hours a week. Oh, and she’s a beast in wrestling too grabbing New York state titles, even competing against boys sometimes.

People online are calling it “legendary” and super inspiring, especially for young girls. One comment nailed it:

“She outlifts a lot of adults!”

But yeah, some folks are fretting about what this could do to a kid’s back or growth plates long-term.

From what the American Academy of Pediatrics says, if kids over 7 do resistance training with proper supervision, it can actually boost bone density and cut down on injuries. And there aren’t any solid studies showing that supervised youth powerlifting leads to stunted growth or ongoing issues.

Lucy’s epic day really shows what a committed kid can pull off with the right support. But the way this blew up online? It’s a reminder that in this social media circus, we gotta hit pause, dig into the facts, and not just react to every viral clip. Real talent deserves the spotlight, but context is king.
