Spike Lee Wins First Oscar After 5 Nominations For BlacKkKlansman

At long last, Spike Lee has finally won an Oscar!

The legendary writer and director of “BlacKkKlansman” took home the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay Sunday night. And, this marks his first Oscar win! BlacKkKlansman was nominated for six awards at the 2019 awards ceremony. The award was also up for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor.

But, BlacKkKlansman faced immense competition in the category, which included nominations for “Can You Ever Forgive Me?,” “If Beale Street Could Talk,” “The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and “A Star is Born.”

Based on an alleged true story, BlacKkKlansman tells the story of Ron Stallworth who became the first black detective in the 1970s to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan. With a vigorous embrace to Samuel L. Jackson, in a vibrant purple suit, Lee’s acceptance speech was nothing short than political.

He made it a habit to mention the 2020 presidential election by stating:

“The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let’s all mobilize, let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let’s do right the thing! You Know I had to get that in there.”

So, what do you all think? And what were some of your favorite moments from the Oscars?!
