Russell Wilson Will Stay with Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll mid-week announced the team has “no intention” of shopping away star quarterback Russell Wilson,  reporting Brady Henderson for ESPN  . However, within days of this announcement, he contradicts himself. After Seattle’s disappointing 7-10 season, Caroll falls short of shooting down the possibility of him leaving the team. While he admits he has no intention of shopping Wilson. In the same breath, he leaves the door open for possibilities.

“At this time of year, there are conversations about everybody,” Carroll said when asked at the NFL scouting combine about trade offers or inquiries for Wilson. “We’re talking about everybody. We usually discuss all players with teams, especially the top ones. This has been consistent throughout our time here. So, it remains unchanged.

“We don’t plan to take any action there, but the talks are something our general manager, John Schneider, deals with. He’s always done that. But nothing focused on that.”

Carroll understands the ramifications these rumors may have on his team going forward; therefore, many see this as damage control. In this era, of football, the elite quarterbacks reign supreme and have tons of impact on their future and outcomes of teams. Carroll attempting to keep Wilson happy, while also rebuilding his team that once was recognized as one of the most talented in all of the NFL.

That’s what you’ve got to do. So there’s a lot of people taking shots, a lot of lines in the water right now trying to guess and see what happens.”

Taking a look back on the disappointing season

The 33-year-old, Wilson is coming up on his 10th year in the NFL. Last season, he suffered a finger injury that sidelined him for three games.
