Quavo Teases New Takeoff Tribute Titled “Honey Bun”

In the past few months, Quavo has released a series of songs in honor of his late nephew Takeoff. In January, he released “Without You,” which he performed at the Grammys in February. This Time, Quavo teases a new tribute to the late Takeoff titled “Honey Bun.”

Tragedy struck in November when Takeoff, an innocent bystander, lost his life in a senseless shooting outside a Houston bowling alley during a dice game.

In November, Takeoff was shot and killed outside a Houston bowling alley. He was just a bystander to a dice game that ended in tragedy.

Takeoff & Quavo – Hotel Lobby (Unc & Phew)

Nearly a year after Migos capped off their Culture trilogy, Quavo and Takeoff are ready to share their first new song as Unc & Phew. The Atlanta trap duo (which is actually an uncle-nephew duo) teased their debut single “Hotel Lobby” earlier today, alongside a Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas-inspired video for the track.

Fans of Migos have long wondered if the trio is at a standstill, especially after Offset was forced to leave the group due to legal issues and family in-fighting. However, it seems as though that’s not the case.

The latest release from Migos, Only Built for Infinity Links, sees Quavo and Takeoff return as a duo to prove that they’re still on the right track. Featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Gucci Mane, and Gunna on the album’s opening cut, “Two Infinity Links,” this trap-fueled record starts off with an energetic banger.

But as the album progresses, it feels a bit flat & stale. Especially after the slick & fun intro track, “See Bout It,” this album begins to lose its steam. It’s only until the aforementioned “Hotel Lobby” that the record finds its stride again. As a whole, this album isn’t a bad listen, but it just falls short of the level that the two Migos should be reaching.

Takeoff & Quavo – Big Stunna

The rumor mill has been buzzing over the recent release of new music from Quavo and Takeoff without Offset, as the two Migos rappers have teased a new single called Big Stunna. The track comes with a new video, which sees Birdman join the uncle and nephew duo to deliver an old-school trap banger.

Only Built For Infinity Links is the first collaboration between Quavo and Takeoff – also known as Unc & Phew – without their Migos bandmates and it doesn’t disappoint. While it lacks the lyrical or stylistic revelations of last year’s Culture III, it’s still a good addition to the Migos catalog.

Despite the omission of Offset, the pair maintain their natural chemistry as they discuss a variety of topics. From their wealth and material possessions to sexual conquests, they also take on the theme of bossing up and keeping it together.

They’re backed by DJ Durel on these cuts, and he helms the pair of back-to-back brass-knuckle heaters. But while the album’s sonic palette remains similar to its predecessor, the inclusion of phoned-in guest spots from Birdman and Gucci Mane provide a jolt of life.

Quavo and Takeoff recently sat down for their first interview as a duo, and they opened up about how they work together and what they have in store next. Check out the full chat below!

    Takeoff & Quavo – Greatness

After releasing a tribute to his late nephew, Migos rapper Quavo has hopped back on the scene with another takeoff-themed song. The Georgia-based artist teased the track on social media hours before its release, and it’s a sweet one.

“Greatness,” produced by DJ Durel, opens with the ATL rapper wishing he could go back and change how things turned out for Takeoff, who was killed outside a Houston bowling alley in November. He then raps about the good times he had with the Migos before Takeoff’s death and how he would give anything to see him one more time.

The new video, directed by Chris Dvon, features old Takeoff cameos and a montage of the Migos family in their glory days. But it’s Quavo’s lyrics that are sparking the most buzz.

It’s the second song Quavo has released in the aftermath of Takeoff’s death, following the January 2023 release of the emotional ballad “Without You.” During that performance at the Grammy Awards earlier this year, he held aloft Takeoff’s chain as he performed the song with Maverick City’s choir. The performance allegedly sparked discord between the surviving Migos members, with TMZ reporting that Quavo and Offset got into a fight backstage at the awards show.
