    ABOUT JUI$E LEROY

Quentin Smith, better known as Jui$e Leroy, is a hip-hop emcee from Fort Worth, TX. He was born and mostly raised in a gang-affiliated neighborhood most of his childhood. When his parents separated, his life took an unexpected turn. His mother decided to move him and his brother away from their hometown for a couple of years, which left him to fall into a dark depression.

To help cope with all the changes, his aunt Paula suggested that he write poems to express the pain he endured due to his parents’ separation. He took his aunt’s advice and started writing his feelings on paper. This led to him writing and recording his first song titled “War” on a blank cassette tape when he was 13 years old. So proud of his work, he made copies of the record and took them around town so people could hear his music. He became passionate about writing music and decided to study the art form and people who influenced him such as Tupac Shakur and Chamillionaire.

At age 16, Quentin created the persona ‘Yung Q’ and released a song called “Like it T-I-Is and Swag.” The song picked up steam in Dallas and got airplay on local radio stations. Building off the momentum of his first hometown hit, he performed weekly in Dallas for a couple of years to establish a name for himself.

After gaining recognition locally, he decided it was time for a change. He introduced a new stage name, Tony Staxx, and released mixtapes and visuals under this moniker for the next few years. During this time his local fan base grew more after giving him the opportunity to open for Nipsey Hussle, Curren$y, Big K.R.I.T and B.O.B. Tony Staxx was officially stamped as one Dallas’ top rappers. He was featured, and premiered, on rappers Scotty ATL and Cyhi The Prynce single “Nigga Concentrate” directed by Stack Moses. The song gained attention and the video was featured on major hip hop music platforms and media outlets such as The Source, Vibe, Hip Hop DX, Revolt TV and BET Jam. Shortly after, while he was recording his project “LORDS,” he watched ‘The Last Dragon’ in the studio. This moment transpired into him creating a new identity under the name Jui$e Leroy.

He began to develop a Wu-Tang Clan influenced style mixed with a southern cadence and flow pattern. He made the song “Winnin,” and after the NBA posted the song on their Instagram, it went viral on social media giving his new identity the stamp of approval he needed. Jui$e Leroy is now mostly known by his Hachimaki Japanese headbands and unique sense of style. His content reflects his upbringing, consciousness and values acquired from the streets. He hopes his music helps liberate the oppressed and further advancement of the troubled generation’s future.
