Kim Kardashian Stealing Culture..The New Age Culture Vulture!!

Kim Kardashian is back to being a culture vulture. As if she could resist the temptation for too long.

The only difference is that this time around, she’s not appropriating the culture of African Americans. It seems as if, this week, she’s taking a break from wearing braids and laying down her edges, and has moved onto something a little more foreign. Now it seems that Kim Kardashian stealing culture again!

Now, Kim has set her sights on Japanese culture.

On Tuesday, Kimberly announced that after a year’s worth of work, she would be launching her new shapewear line, which she calls “Kimono.” Sounds cute, but not to the Japanese. Many are flocking to social media, like Twitter, to bash the “KUWTK” star.

Take a look a what a few angry Twitter users had to say about Kim’s version of the sacred Japanese traditional clothing:

One is KIMONO. One is Kim shamelessly selling a line of shapewear. Which y’all don’t need.

My culture is not YOUR underwear.
    #kimono #KimOhNo

This is I wore to my wedding. I’d like Kim to imagine how she’d feel if someone treated her wedding, prom or baptism dresses as lingerie. “Kimono” are not just clothes but are a symbol that evokes precious memories and important life events.

Kimono is japanese traditional clothing. How would you feel if a foreigner setup a brand using the name of your country’s national costume which has nothing in common. Please respect other culture. Kimonos are not underwears.

People are so upset they have started their own hashtag, labeled #KimOhNo.

So far, Mrs. Kardashian-West has not responded to the backlash, reports The Blast.

In conclusion, is Kim Kardashian stealing culture? Did she go too far this time? After all the backlash, do you think she’ll rename her shapewear line? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment in the comment section below.
