Former NFL Jarryd Hayne Has reportedly Been Convicted of Rape

Reports indicate that Australian rugby league and former NFL player Jarryd Hayne has been found guilty of rape. He faces allegations of committing sexual assault against a woman in Australia’s Hunter Valley in 2018.

He is expected to be jailed for up to five years.

He has been charged with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent aggravated by an injury that was allegedly inflicted on the woman.

The jury found Mr Hayne guilty on both counts and he is due back in court next month for a third trial.

During the second day of the trial, the victim told the jury her relationship with Hayne had begun after she contacted him on Snapchat and was “messing around”. She said she never had any expectations when she agreed to let him over.

When she got home that night, she was shocked to see a taxi outside her house. She says she felt like “absolute s**t” and resolved that there was no way she was going to consent to sex.

A doctor told the court the woman was left with a “unusual and significant” curved laceration to her genitalia when she was assaulted by Hayne. The jury was also told by Dr Cunneen that the woman’s GP visited her in hospital and questioned her about the assault.

The jury heard evidence from the complainant, her mother and police. The jury was also given five calls that were intercepted by police after the assault, but before it occurred, including one from the NRL Integrity Unit.
