Emotional Alec Baldwin Opens Up About ‘Rust’ Movie Set Incident

    ‘I didn’t pull the trigger.’

The world was ready to have questions answered regarding the incident of Alec Baldwin’s Rust movie. In a recent ABC News interview’ George Stephanopoulos. The actor finally provided insight into the events of that consequential day.

As questions are still unanswered, one takeaway from the interview is, Baldwin says that he ‘didn’t pull the trigger.’ According to Alec Baldwin, when he released the hammer on the gun, it unexpectedly fired a live bullet. The Bettlejuice star recalls every move he made was in the direction of what cinematographer Halyna Hutchins told him to make.

    The Crucial Question

“So, I picked up the gun and began to cock it,” the actor continued. “I chose not to pull the trigger.” “I cocked the gun and asked, ‘Can you see that? Can you see that? Can you see that?'” “Then, I released the hammer of the gun, and it fired. I let go of the hammer, and the gun went off.”

Stephanopoulos goes to ask the questions the world was dying to know, “So you never pulled the trigger?”

Baldwin denied pointing the gun and pulling the trigger at anyone, emphasizing that it goes against his training. Stephanopoulos reminded Baldwin that pointing a gun at anyone on a set is not allowed, to which Baldwin defended himself by saying he only pointed the gun in the direction instructed by the cinematographer for the camera angle.

“I didn’t point the gun at her, and she said, ‘Hey, man, don’t point the gun at me.’ I pointed the gun in a direction she wanted.”

    Who’s To Blame?

It now has been almost about two months since the killing of Hutchins and wounding its director, Joel Souza. The 63-year-old star feels that someone is responsible for what happened, and that this incident was not his fault. Baldwin also said he has no idea how a live bullet got into the Colt .45 revolver that he used on the scene.

“The gun had a live bullet in it, which should not have been present on the property,” the actor stated.

As a result, Alec Baldwin struggles to get through each day, reliving the horrific day over and over again. Also, knowing he killed someone’s wife, daughter, and mom. In the interview, as the investigation continues, Baldwin downplays the risk of facing criminal charges. However, the district attorney says otherwise, and that criminal charges remain “on the table.”

“People who have inside knowledge, even within the state, have informed me that the chances of me facing criminal charges are very slim,” he stated.

Investigators from Santa Fe County are looking primarily at how live rounds got into the gun that Baldwin was holding.

In the meantime Baldwin and several other actors, such as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have made a commitment to only use prop guns in their upcoming movies. Others, including Olivia Wilde, have signed a petition to ban the use of real firearms on Hollywood film sets.

“Guns are in films and television shows because that’s what audiences want,” he said. “I’m only saying that whatever steps we have to take to put another layer of security so that doesn’t happen again.”

Time will tell what’s next for the star, but soon the truth will all come out. Condolences go out to the families and friends of Hutchins. Unfortunately, a life was lost too soon.
