Ellen DeGeneres Defends George W. Bush Friendship After NFL Game

Ellen DeGeneres will stand up for her friends!

Ellen DeGeneres stirred controversy when she was seen laughing with President George W. Bush at the Cowboys-Packers game last weekend. As a gay, liberal woman in Hollywood, some questioned her choice to sit with a Republican former president. However, on Tuesday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” she addressed the situation and defended her friendship with the 73-year-old politician.

Ellen and her wife, Portia de Rossi, were invited to the game by Charlotte Jones, daughter of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. During her monologue, Ellen humorously mentioned they wanted to “keep up with the Joneses.”

She acknowledged that she knew she would be surrounded by people with different views and beliefs, beyond just politics – she was, after all, rooting for the Packers while everyone else in the Cowboys suite cheered for the home team.

The tweets criticizing her for sitting next to Bush flooded in, but there was one tweet that gave her hope, stating that their friendship inspired faith in America.

Ellen passionately defended her friendship with Bush and encouraged others to spend time with people who hold different perspectives. She emphasized the importance of embracing diversity and being kind to everyone, even those who don’t share the same beliefs.

In the end, Ellen’s message resonated with many: it’s okay to be friends with people who have different opinions, and kindness should be extended to all, regardless of our differences.
