Cormier Vs. Lewis Set To Clash Tonight at UFC 230

Philadelphia, PA — Ever since Heavy weight and Light heavyweight  Champion Daniel Cormier defeated Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 to become a double champion in the UFC, he hasn’t had any real competition that would make the name Jon Jones a memory.

Jon Jones, who was recently on suspension for the use of performance enhancing drugs, and is currently working his way back into the UFC, as he tries to pass a fitness test to be ready for an expected return bout at UFC 232, is the ideal opponent for the double champion, and since his departure many feel Daniel Cormier’s success has been tainted, until Cormier defeated Stipe, who many experts felt was the best heavyweight in the business.

Stipe Miocic with a record of (18-3), was a knockout expert, who many felt was dominant enough to have an extended Heavyweight title run, but that was taken away from Stipe by a Light heavyweight champion that has been doubted by many, Daniel Cormier.

Cormier shocked many at UFC 226, and the post-fight incident with Brock Lesnar, which subsequently set up the most anticipated UFC fight since Jones-Cormier, will give UFC fans the next best thing.

However, that match isn’t expected to take place until early next year, so Cormier’s match against Derrick Lewis; a fighter with the same exact size and body type as Brock Lesnar, who’s heavyweight rank is number 2, at a record of (21-5), is known for  his knockouts at 178 in his career, should be a great preparation match for Cormier in his much anticipated fight against Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar won the WWE Universal Championship at WWE’s Crown Jewel Pay Per View in Saudi Arabia, and he will likely enter the UFC with the WWE title, setting the stage for more anticipation and drama to his future fight against Daniel Cormier. If Lesnar defeats Cormier, he’ll become the first fighter to hold both the UFC and WWE Universal Championship at the same time. First step is for Cormier to successfully defend the Heavyweight title at UFC 230.

The weigh-in for Derrick “The Beast ” Lewis is weighing in at 265, and at 6’3. Brock Lesnar , who is also 6’3, it’s a bit heavier than Lewis at 286.  ” I wanna look into his (Lewis) eyes, and into his soul. This guys ready to fight, but he’s just another obstacle in me becoming the greatest fighter of all time. Will be my honor to enter the main event tomorrow night as the champion.” said Cormier to UFC.com

UFC 230 can be seen Saturday November 3rd, live on pay per view
