HYPEFRESH: To begin, please introduce yourself. Feel free to share the essentials such as your name, age, and place of origin, as much or as little as you’re comfortable with.
Bill Gultiano: Hello, my name is Bill Gultiano, and I am a 21-year-old university student based in Melbourne, Australia. I was born in the Philippines but raised in a town called Werribee, where I grew my love for music.
I started singing in high school but only started producing music in my senior year in 2017. From then on, I studied programming at university in 2018 while pursuing my passion for music on the side, where my love for writing music was truly tested.
HYPEFRESH: Can you tell us about your new single, “Love Me Or Not”?
Bill Gultiano: “Love Me Or Not” was one of the first singles I had ever produced, which I started around 2021 but never really finished because I was too busy with university projects. The song is a genre blend of Pop, R&B, and Trap.
It follows the bitter shortcomings of a one-sided relationship where the partner has fallen out of love but has not come clean about their true feelings. It is written from the victim’s perspective, who finally sees them for their true colors and wants the closure they need to move on from the relationship that keeps them around for their ego.
The lyrics convey this emotional journey from questioning their love and revealing the truth to the tragic desire of still wanting them to stay despite the hurt like an addictive drug. With somber but rhythmic storytelling in the verses and a dreamy chorus that reels the listener into the story’s emotions, I created the vibe of “Love Me Or Not.”
HYPEFRESH: What do you like most about being a music artist?
Bill Gultiano: The great thing about being an artist in music is being able to tell a story to someone that also enhances their experiences of emotions through the music itself. As an independent artist, I also have much more freedom, letting me explore sounds in many areas without restriction, which helps express those genuine emotions.
Not only that, but through music, I was able to grow as a person, as it has helped me put myself out there and slowly start to overcome my social anxiety. Overall, I love being able to express genuine emotions through the aesthetics of music and telling my story while growing as a person by trying to learn and succeed in this industry.
