Big Sean recently confirmed that Nicki Minaj had sent him a record. No official news has made its way down the pipeline as of yet, but the world of hip-hop is abuzz with the likelihood that two of rap music’s most dynamic figures are working on something special.
Nicki and Sean are not new to a fire collab. Their 2011 single “Dance (A$$) Remix” became an instant club anthem, and listeners still go wild when that beat drops. Their chemistry on the record? Unreal. They reconnected for YG’s 2018 banger “Big Bank” featuring 2 Chainz, a record that not only charted, making it a stadium and festival favorite.
Add their lesser-known though still catchy cut on “M.I.L.F.,” and it’s apparent: together, these two mesh well.
Big Sean casually revealed a bombshell recently during an interview:
“Yeah, Nicki sent me something. We’ll see what happens.”
And with that, he ignited social media on fire with that one sentence.
The hip-hop world began speculating instantly—new song? Album cut? Deluxe version collab? Others joked that Dance (A$$) Remix Pt 2 would emerge and “end all twerk anthems forever.”
No official word, but the timing couldn’t be worse.
Nicki and Sean have caused quite the buzz before in the past twelve months. There was some serious nostalgia for the fans when Big Sean made two surprise appearances on Nicki’s Pink Friday 2 World Tour—at his home town of Detroit, back in April of 2024, and then Los Angeles in September of the same year.
Both performances brought the house down with “Dance (A$$),” reducing stadium after stadium to one big ol’ throwback party. The reaction of the crowd? Pandemonium—in the good sense.
“They never missed a beat,”
wrote one fan on X
“There was something 2011-esque about it.”
The other user had posted,
“If that isn’t evidence they are developing something new, I have no idea what is.”
Nicki and Sean would be cooking up something during a time that is optimal for both of them, as both are on big momentum.
Nicki recently released “FTCU (SLEEZEMIX)” with Travis Scott, Chris Brown, and Sexyy Red—a new, bouncy anthem that’s getting lots of buzz. The Queen of Rap is obviously on a hot streak.
Big Sean, however, recently made his big comeback with “Precision,” his first release of new music in well over two years. It’s crisp, assertive, and is reminiscent of the hot rhymes he’s consistently served up.
Both of them being in active-release mode, a collab makes perfect sense.
Fans across TikTok, X, and Instagram are force-visualizing the collab as their world depends on it.
“Nicki and Sean have kept quiet for too long,”
another post says.
“Give us the sequel. Give us the moment.”
Another joked,
“We survived the pandemic. We deserve Dance (A$$) Pt 2.”
Memes are out, edits are being created, and stan accounts are speculating big time. There are even some who say they heard a “snippet” on Sean’s recent IG Live.
In the face of speculation, there’s not a single release, tease, or clip from one of the artists announcing a record, but between Sean’s remark, their surprise onstage collabs, and the public respect they’ve had for one another for so long, there’s a sense that something is brewing.
Add Beyoncé reportedly recommending Nicki as a guest on Sean’s 2014 smash “IDFWU” (it never materialized, though) and you can understand how long the musical chemistry between them has been percolating in the background.
“I have always had a deep respect for Nicki,”
Sean said in a previous interview.
“She is a true artist, a true writer, and she always contributes energy that is unparalleled.”
Should Big Sean and Nicki Minaj actually release a new song this year, well, get ready for some fireworks. These two have always had chemistry on the mic, and with the current excitement, the world is ready.
