Batman: The Long Halloween is getting an animated two-part adaptation
Batman is getting another anime treatment. Warner Bros. and DC Universe’s animated films are some of the most enjoyable to watch. Some may argue that their animated releases are sometimes better than their movie theater releases. Batman is one of the most animated comic crusader in the DCU. This time the animated release will be for his comic series, Batman: The Long Halloween. The movie will have two parts. Part one is released in the summer, June 22, followed by part two in the fall. This one is anticipated for sure as it’s one of Batman’s iconic comic series, It’s released in two parts to do it justice, and it’s Naya Rivera’s last film.
Plot according to comics:
Batman: The Long Halloween ran for 13 issues between 1996 and 1997. Batman is chasing a criminal, who only murders during the Holidays. The comic takes place early during Batman’s start but just shortly after Year One. Batman: The Long Halloween features the world’s greatest detective at his best as he works the case of the Falcone Crime Family. The book features several fan favorite rogues from Batman’s history, including the Joker, Poison Ivy, and more.

8 Reasons we are excited for Batman: The Long Halloween
- It’s Batman in his beginnings, focused on solving a case and putting away the bad guys.
- The artwork by Tim Sale, in the comics, is incredibly haunting and hopefully will be reflected in the film.
- This comic zeroes in at portraying Batman as the world’s greatest Detective which we don’t get to see alot in the Movie theater releases that are usually very action based.
- Joker’s voiced by iconic video game actor, Troy Baker. IMO, Baker does the voice of the iconic clown prince justice. Mark Hamil is the GOAT for Joker but Troy Baker does a very nice job pulling off the meancing and humorous Joker.
- Batman: The Long Halloween is often used as the foundation for creating the Batman character we all love, including Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.
- Two-face gets an in depth backstory and origins during this series.
- The Long Halloween will be a good precursor to The Batman film staring Robert Patterson that will be release in 2022.
- It’s Naya Rivera’s last film.
Naya Rivera’s Last Film
For Fans of the late Naya Rivera, this is the last chance to see her in action. Naya Rivera is best know for playing Santana Lopez on Glee. The Glee actress was cast to voice our favorite cat burglar in Batman: The Long Halloween. The late actress voiced the beloved character of Selina Kyle or Catwoman, her criminal alter ego. Then, Naya Rivera tragically died last summer when boating and swimming in California with her son, Josey Hollis in Lake Piru. Rivera managed to get her son back on the boat, saving his life until she succumbed to the water. She was confirmed dead on July 13. Batman: The Long Halloween is Naya Rivera’s Last Film.
While DC fans await this release, they can also anticipate the release of Justice Society: World War II. The animated film stars the classic superhero team with a time-displaced Barry Allen. What’s great about it, other than future Barry Allen? Well, the superhero team fights and defeats some Nazis. Release date for Justice Society World War II is April 27, 2021.
