Byron Allen is making deals again
It appears that Byron Allen‘s Allen Media Group now owns two new networks from MGM. The two over-the-air networks are called This TV and Light TV. Both are 24-hour cable networks.
This TV, launched in 2008, offers films and other forms of limited content. On the other hand, Light TV was founded in 2016. It serves as a free broadcast network. Light TV plays family-friendly movies and popular television series.
Following his controversial comments and struggles to obtain financial support, Byron Allen is winning. He hopes to buy CNN one day.
For me, it’s important to own something — especially in America, as an African American,” he says. “As far as I’m concerned, I can’t own enough. It’s not possible. I haven’t even begun.”
Allen’s buying power varies case by case
This occurs nearly two years after Allen’s racial discrimination lawsuit against Charter Communications. Allen argued that the cable company violated the Civil Rights Act of 1866.
Byron Allen is a mogul in the television game
Despite his legal battle with Charter Communications, Byron Allen has acquired a ton of networks. The list includes The Weather Channel, Cars.TV, Comedy.TV, ES.TV, JusticeCentral.TV, MyDestination.TV, Pets.TV and Recipe.TV.
“We are going to continue to invest a substantial amount of capital into the programming, marketing, and distribution of these networks. We are strong believers in broadcasting and free-streaming direct-to-consumer platforms.”
Allen Media Group is likely to acquire more networks in the future, both small and large. Mr. Allen won’t stop until he has enough.
